Story
After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, the psychiatrist becomes increasingly convinced that he is threatened by a mysterious entity. A few days before the release on September 30, 2022, the cast of the film appeared seated at various baseball games. standing still behind home plate, smiling as he stares into the camera, motionless despite fans in the audience being understandably concerned while wearing a Smile shirt. Soon another appeared in the background with the crowd during the Today show. Around 31 minutes in, Rose breaks a glass when the alarm goes off.
In Rose’s consciousness/sanity
A few seconds later, as she looks at the door, she is wearing lace-up shoes. Based on what happens later at a party, there are a number of continuity issues that may not be "mistakes" but the "breaks" can actually be intentional. Rose Cotter: What are you? Why are you doing this to me? The Monster: Because your mind is so inviting.

Paramount’s opening and closing logos feature a curved line in the shape of a smile at the base of the mountain. Lollipop By Beverley Ross & Julius Dixon Performer: The Chordettes. LOTS of jump scares and gory scenes, as expected. Some original horror and a lot of « been there, done that » which is fun for a horror junkie like me. BUT.
A weak conclusion
It looks like there’s literally only one cheesy sequel coming. You’ll see what I mean if you’re looking for a more meaningful closure to what could have been a great ending as this story builds and directs the viewer to something that could make sense. It’s not worth the hefty price tag at the box office. Rent this. Or wait until you reach one of the millions of streaming services these days.
